Ultrasound Guided Injection Therapy
When pain persists despite hands-on treatment and exercise, injection therapy can sometimes provide additional relief. Using ultrasound guidance allows medication to be delivered precisely to the affected structure, improving accuracy and effectiveness.
Ultrasound-guided injections at The Moving Body form part of an integrated approach to pain management and recovery.
What are ultrasound-guided injections?
Ultrasound-guided injections involve delivering medication directly into or around an injured or inflamed structure, with real-time imaging showing exactly where the needle is placed.
This precision improves treatment outcomes and reduces the risk associated with injections performed without imaging guidance.
Conditions commonly treated
Injection therapy may be helpful for a range of musculoskeletal problems, including:
- Frozen shoulder and shoulder bursitis
- Rotator cuff and gluteal tendinopathy
- Hip and knee osteoarthritis
- Tennis and golfer’s elbow
- Plantar fasciitis
- Achilles tendinopathy
- Trigger finger and carpal tunnel syndrome
Please note, Chris does not perform injection therapy for spinal issues.
Types of injections offered
Depending on your condition, injections may include:
- Corticosteroid injections to reduce inflammation
- Hyaluronic acid injections for joint arthritis
- Local anaesthetic for pain relief or diagnostic clarity
- Selected injection approaches for persistent tendon pain
What to expect
Your appointment usually lasts around 30 minutes and includes assessment, ultrasound imaging and — where appropriate — injection treatment in the same visit. The procedure is usually quick and well tolerated. A report will be emailed to you following your appointment.
Injection therapy is often most effective when combined with hands-on treatment and rehabilitation, and care is coordinated within the clinic.
Unsure if injection therapy is correct for you?
If you are unsure if you are a good candidate for injection therapy, book yourself in for a Diagnostic ultrasound scan. If Chis feels you would benefit from injection therapy and you would like to proceed with this, you can upgrade your appointment to include injection therapy.
Availability
Ultrasound-guided injections are available every Thursday at The Moving Body and performed by independent practitioner Chris Pruvey. You can book directly using our online booking page or by being referred following osteopathic treatment. Chris also accepts referrals from local GPs and allied professionals.
